The Kaye Arms, Grange Moor, Wakefield
I walked into this place at 9.30pm on a week night and immediately wondered
if I had walked into a pub or a restaurant as most of the tables were arranged
formally, and the room was bathed in subtle lighting and candles on each table.
On the bar was a bucket full of ice with a bottle of champagne half burried and
chilling in it. Was served by the pretty bar maid and took a seat. On the whole
the place has a clean and classy look, but a little more formal than you usually
expect.
The Kaye Arms is a bit out of the way, and you probably need a car to get to
it, perched as it is on the hill top above Mirfield, and between Huddersfield
and Wakefield. For this reason alone the clientelle seemed to be a slightly more
discerning group than your usual pubful of spotty chav meisters.
